Parents and Students: Please join us on Saturday, August 8, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, for an Informational meeting and Orientation at George Washington Carver Community Center to learn more about this important program for 7th and 8th grade students.
SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, parents volunteers, and industry working together to ensure America and Peoria, has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. We provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education that prepares our youth for today’s workforce. The program is hosted by Carver Center and Quest Academy. Sign up through the Carver Center.
Through this program your child will be taught the SkillsUSA framework which cover, Personal Skills, Workplace Skills, and Technical skills grounded in academics. We will discuss topics (including but limited to) the importance of Self-motivation, Integrity, Communication, Decision-making, Safety, and Community Service - all examples of skills employers desire today.
Your child will receive and benefit from valuable training and leadership skills from SkillsUSA certified facilitators that will prepare them for the 21st century work force, higher education, and life.
Come to this meeting to learn more about how to become a member of this nationally recognized program and all we have to offer you and your child. We will be taking enrollment applications at the meeting for the 2020-2021 school year.
